Description

On this 4 day craft course students will discover the benefits of using ‘green wood’ rather than kiln dried timber from a sawmill. Join our experienced instructors and find out how to cleave the green wood using traditonal methods. You will then shape the parts using a shave horse, a draw knife, chisels, and a pole lathe and finally you will bring the parts together to construct one of the following:

  • Stool – A 3 legged stool with Turned Legs
  • Bench – Four legged bench with turned or cleft legs
  • Shave HorsePlease note To ensure completion within the allotted four days, the bed of the shave horse will be supplied pre-shaped.

*Students will need to choose one of the above projects before the start of the course, so that we can ensure the appropriate materials available.

The skills and methods used during this course serve as a strong foundation for learning spoon carving, gate making and other greenwood crafts.

Why not join us in March at our fabulous workshop in the woods and discover the magic of green woodworking?
